Nominations for the Burlington Tourism Awards
Each year Tourism Burlington accepts nominations for our Tourism Awards. The Awards are given out at the Chamber Gala in early April, but a lot of work goes into making these award announcements. The selection committee often has many submissions to sort through and evaluate in order to announce a winner. The fun thing is that the Award winners do not know that they have won until their name is called at the gala. I love the surprise on their face and how gracious they always are to accept and thank the other nominees.
This year’s Nomination forms are now available and the closing date for submissions is November 30th, 2010. I am using this opportunity to call on the City of Burlington to take the time and nominate someone from their favorite local attraction, sporting organization, restaurant etc. whom should be recognized be honoured for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the Tourism industry in Burlington, Ontario. The Tourism Burlington Ambassador Award recognizes a local individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to the Burlington tourism industry over a prolonged period of time. These contributions have been primarily made in a volunteer capacity.
It is easy to submit a nomination and will only take a few minutes of your time. There are two awards: Tourism Ambassador Award and the Tourism Builder Award.
