We were pleased to see that the restaurant was quite busy when we arrived and once seated we were given a choice of three menus. Four of us decided on the Taste menu while our special guest chose a gluten-free honey roasted beet and goat cheese salad topped with grilled shrimp which she said was delicious. For the first course I selected, the Yukon gold potato and cauliflower soup which was topped with a zucchini, carrot relish. It was wonderful on a cold winter day. I liked the crunchy relish combined with the smooth consistency of the soup. My colleagues tried the roasted red pepper and feta cheese croquettes served with a tarragon aioli. They received a generous serving of three croquettes which were crunchy, warm and spicy! For the main entrée two of us selected the roasted vegetable spanikopita which was phyllo pastry stuffed with roasted vegetables, ricotta and feta cheese finished with chili aioli and a baby arugula salad. It was a large serving and had a nice mix of flaky pastry and veggies with not too much cheese – scrumptious! The smoked cheddar and mushroom tart and the roasted chicken and vegetable sandwich were other selections that did not disappoint.
We could not resist the final course ( at least I couldn’t) a Belgian Dark Chocolate & Mint Torte - Dark chocolate and crème de menthe mousse set on a chocolate cookie and pistachio crust finished with strawberry-black pepper coulis. It was too die for and I finished every morsel!
