Patio Views & Sweet Treats!

Patio at Emma's Backporch!
Tourism Burlington was invited to speak at the newly formed Burlington Restaurant Association meeting this afternoon and since it was such a summer-like day we walked over to the Water St. Cooker, the meeting location.  Burlington is becoming known as a great dining destination and it is fabulous that the restaurants are coming together to tackle issues and jointly promote.  Coming into the Cooker I noticed they had a fresh pail of mussels they were getting ready for the dinner rush–this is one of their specialties.  As usual we don’t walkabout without a camera in hand and we took some great shots of the patio at Emma’s.  It was busy with people enjoying their lunch while looking over the lake.  There were even some jet skiers racing about on the lake – getting one of their last rides in for the season.  They were too fast for us to capture them though.
Vegan/Gluten Free Treats at Kindfood

On the way back to the office we stopped into two new establishments in the downtown area.  Kindfood is a new natural foods cafĂ©, vegan bakery and juice bar located on 399 John St.  They feature vegan and gluten free products and we tried 2 of their delicious cupcakes (which we reluctantly shared with our team back at the ranch).  The store is hard to miss with its vibrant pink and green colour scheme and the beautiful flowers on their patio.  They also are partnering with Chef Complet to host vegan cooking classes this fall and we heard from the owners that the first one was sold out it was so popular.  A second class has just been scheduled for October 13th; visit their website for registration information!

We then headed to Sweetness Bakery on 357 Brant St. which features many sweet treats from cupcakes to squares and cookies.  They were so busy we didn’t get a chance to try their treats so we will have to return again to investigate further – it is a tough job but we are willing to sacrifice our waistlines for the sake of our visitor’s culinary needs!
What a beautiful last full day of summer in Burlington, thinking of heading to one of our many patios after work for drinks and dinner!
