Shopping in Burlington

We are trying to get the word out that Tourism together with the local hotel association deliver a great package called Burlington Hotel Deals.  The deal is $20 off your room rate plus a gift card of $20 to play with.  I was out restocking our supply of gift cards for these packages and first made a trip to Mapleview Shopping Centre.  If you haven’t been there since the 100,000 sq. ft. expansion, you should check it out.  There is a fabulous new food court with many eateries with different cuisines plus two new full service restaurants – Earls which originated from the West Coast and opened earlier this year, and Turtle Jacks which will be opening soon.  Also opening soon is BCBG MAX AZRIA , Guess by Marciano, Hot Topic and Teaopia. 

Next I ventured across Plains Rd. to the popular Burlington IKEA which is one of the top tourist destinations in our area, believe it or not.  While I was there picking up gift cards, I canvassed the parking lot and was amazed to see on a weekday afternoon that there were plates from Alberta(2), Newfoundland, Manitoba, New York, Georgia, Texas and Florida!  Since there is not a store in south western Ontario or North western New York it draws a lot of visitors from these areas.  We work with the store to encourage these shoppers to visit our local attractions and make a weekend of it.
