Taste of Burlington Meet & Greet

Preparations are underway for Taste of Burlington Winter 2011 and this past Monday was the first of many exciting events planned for this programme, which will run February 21 – Sunday March 13, 2011. Taste of Burlington started in 2008 when a small group of local restaurants met with representatives from Tourism Burlington, Burlington Downtown and Aldershot Business Community to discuss how to increase awareness of Burlington as a dining destination. The first programme was in summer 2008 and the program has continued to grow and evolve since then.
On Monday, restaurants that plan on being a part of the upcoming programme met with representatives from Ontario Wine Country at the Holiday Inn Burlington for a Meet & Greet.  The event was made possible by the Holiday Inn Burlington who sponsored the event, Wine Country Ontario who is Presenting Sponsor for Taste of Burlington Winter 2011 and Taste of Burlington.
Restaurateurs in attendance were able to meet with the winery representatives to learn about and sample new wines to add to their wine lists at their respective restaurants. There were 12 wineries in attendance; Malivoire Wine Company, 13th Street Winery, Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits, Colio Estate Wines, Wayne Gretzky Estate Winery, Creekside Estate Winery, Rosewood Estates Winery & Meadery, Andrew Peller Limited, Pillitteri Estates Winery, Calamus Estate Winery, Mike Weir Wine and Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery. Dairy Farmers of Canada were also present and supplied a delicious cheese table that featured a variety of local cheeses.
The Taste of Burlington is a prix-fixe dining event; during the programme diners can enjoy a 3 course meal (appetizer, entrée, dessert and coffee/tea) at a great savings for lunch or dinner at any of the participating restaurants. Restaurants in attendance on Monday were, Beaver, Downtown Bistro, Jake’s Grill & Oyster House, LaCosta, Latitude, Martini House, Paradiso, Pearl St. Café, Pepperwoods, Red Canoe Bistro, Rude Native, SB Prime, Sokratis Greek Cuisine, Stone House, Walkers Fish Market, Water Street Cooker and West Plains Bistro. The Taste of Burlington committee hopes to have 25 restaurants participate in the upcoming program.
Stay tuned for a complete list of restaurants participating in the winter 2011 programme, other special events in conjunction with TOB and an exciting contest announcement! For the latest TOB news visit their website, become a fan on facebook or follow on Twitter.
